PAST
PROJECTS
This
is basically a brief sample of historical past "fan
films" (if they count as that). The
"break movies" or ATARITOONS were created back
in 1987 and were hosted on the Lake County Atari
Computer Enthusiasts Python Bulletin Board System.
Enjoy!

ATARI BBS Simulator.
(~3
Megs) Quicktime format
If you started using computers after the advent
of the World Wide Web, this movie is MANDATORY!
What this shows is a simulation of an old ATARI
terminal program called 850 Express. This
was our primary modem program used to log onto BBS
sites. This simulates what it was like to
call the Python BBS at 300 baud and try to watch
an ATARITOON. Weird stuff happens towards
the end.

ALIENS : The ATARITOON
(~3.2
Megs) Quicktime format
This can probably be considered my first
"Fan film". This involves 3 of our
recurring ATARITOON characters and there run in
with everyone's favorite sci-fi movie monsters.
Something to keep in mind is that all these
"break movies" were created using ASCII
and ATASCII (an Atari specific character
set)...keystroke for keystroke. They were
created using Atari 800, 800XL, or 130XE 8-bit
computers

ATARITOON TREK
(~3
Megs) Quicktime format
Another, more extravagant example, of the power
of break movies. Featuring recurring
ATARITOON characters.

TERMINAPER:
The Special Edition
(~4.3
Megs) Quicktime Format
"Terminaper"
was originally filmed on the spur of the moment in
about four hours (roughly 11:00PM to 3:00AM) back
in 1988. It was made with what props we had
on hand and an adaptive very simple story.
Stuffed animals have taken over the world and
humans send in a stuffed animal "Terminaper"
to take out pockets of them and win the war for
humanity. In
2000, when I got all the equipment and software
for the "Sith Apocalypse" fan film, one
of the things I decided to do was revisit
this. I made a little teaser trailer, then
got the original footage (which was in bad shape)
and re-edited the short film and added some sound
and special FX. |

STORYBASE
TEASER
(~4.6
Megs) Windows ASF Format
The Storybase is basically the largest piece of
fan fiction that I know of. It was written
by me, David Tisinai, and Brian Kotek. It
covers just about everything in the sci-fi/fantasy
universe (Star Wars, Star Trek, Battletech,
Middle-Earth, Terminator, Indiana Jones, Aliens,
etc) and links them all together against the most
terrible of all conceivable enemies, H.P.
Lovecraft's Great Old Ones. This was a fake
teaser trailer I made for a "what if the
storybase was ever made into a movie". I
apologize in advance for the poor quality, but I
was trying to keep the size down. And to the
MAC users, sorry about no Quicktime format, but
this was the best I could do. Eventually,
the entire Storybase will be moved and archived
onto this site. But for now it is archived
at www.story-base.com. |
If the Quicktime movies don't work,
that might be because they are in the Sorenson 3 codec.
You can download the new Quicktime player for FREE at www.quicktime.com.
