NEWS ARCHIVE SEPT 2002

(13 SEP 2002)

Wow!  What a day!  I just had a fantastic time at the Las Vegas Hilton's "Star Trek Experience"!  If you even marginally are interested in Star Trek you have to see this.  It is really really amazing.   It is kind of an interactive experience, with live actors interacting with the TV show actors from TNG cast.   You get to "beam up" to the ship (the illusion is flawless and very cool) and walk the hallways, turbolifts, and the bridge!  They've got all the sounds perfect, from the chirping LCARS consoles to the bass hum of the ship's engines in warp drive.  Very good attention to detail and it really makes the whole thing worth it.    Alone that would be sufficient.   But then add to the fact that there is a full on Star Trek Prop Museum (The History of the Future Museum) which is as good as the popular "Magic of Myth" exhibit.  Also add "Quarks" which is essentially the promenade deck of Deep Space 9...and a ton of shops where you can buy anything from uniforms, to tribbles, to latinum, to Romulan Ale, and get this....officially liscenced Trek Props!  Very cool.  Needless to say, I dropped a lot of change here....almost as much as GENCON :(

Add to the whole experience, that I'm using the hotel's ultra-fast broadband to update the page....while I'm watching...get this....Star Wars: Attack of the Clones on Pay-per-view.....aaahhh Vegas.  Oh Annie's about to whoop up on some Tuskens....gotta go!
