No new
FX tests or anything for this week. I have been working the midnight
shifts and pretty much playing all the Counter-Strike I can just trying to
unwind and relax. Thank God for computer gaming. I would most
assuredly be completely nuts by now without it.
On a different
note, and another reason I don't feel like doing anything, Sith
Apocalypse was featured on this week's edition of Digital
Llama Radio, a fan made
"radio" show (really a web-based MP3 show if you want to get technical
about it.). It is done in the style of those annoying morning radio shows
where the hosts all sit around and laugh at their own jokes. They
bash my movie and me pretty hard, pretty much tearing me a new one, and the only
reason I mention it here is that some of the jokes they made are actually pretty
funny. I actually laughed despite myself at some of the things that were
said and it was kind of like listening to MST3K.
But they didn't
have a single positive thing to say and went as far as to suggest that I
shouldn't have gone through the trouble of making it in the first place.
If you want to listen to their "review", then go click the link above,
and unfortunately you'll have to sit though about 20 minutes of tripe before you
get there.
I can be pretty thick-skinned and can dish it out and
take it, but I felt this went too far. I left a message on TFN forums
(which is no doubt deleted by the moderators by now) reproaching them for their
lack of maturity. As to what their response will be, I'll never know....I
think I'm done with TFN and the forums for a while. I'm sure no one will
care.
Don't worry though, I will keep working on FX tests and
scripts and plod along towards our next project. It's just that this hobby
is hard enough as it is without naysayers picking at you along the way.

I am discovering the joys of 3D Studio Max. In preparation
for my next fan-made endeavor. I have started FX tests in earnest. I
just put up a new FX test of an
X-Wing pilot slaloming through some asteroids. It ain't great,
but for a first anim. I am very happy.

Well it has been a busy month. Sith
Apocalypse premiered and was very successful as far as getting the
film seen. So successful in fact that it drove the site down several
times.
The film is now being hosted over at Star
Wars Land Fan Films. It is a new
fan film website with a decent start (and I'm not just saying that because I'm
biased), so go check them out and don't forget to look at their forums too!
I'm starting the month off with a bang! Got a brand new FX
test and a new project I am working on as a concept / speculative
piece. The FX test is unconnected just started getting familiar with
3DStudio Max, Character Studio, and some models from SCI-FI
3D.
Well that's the news for now. The new FX tests, along with
my new project updates will start getting posted on the Future
Projects pages, as they happen. Here's to the future!
