Okay, I
have about 1 minute of fight footage left to edit before
the rough cut is complete! But I took a break
tonight. I got tired of watching the movie with
only my imagination to figure out what the final product
would look like. So I sat down with ALAMDV,
Adobe Aftereffects, and Photoshop and rendered a clip
from the movie with full FX, sound, and music, just to
give myself a hint of what it would look like. The
answer? AWESOME!! Judge for yourself!!
Sith Apocalypse Sample Fight Scene

Well, the
rough cut is almost done. I have about 3 minutes
of fight footage left to edit and that is all. I
would have finished it tonight except that I am
working on an exclusive teaser for cast and crew which
includes full FX. Rotoscoping 6 sabers is not
quick. I will have another update this weekend,
hopefully accompanied by a sneak part of the film.
I am going to try to get the quick clip up on ALAMDV's
site since about half the FX were accomplished with
their software. The rest was done in Adobe
Photoshop and AfterEffects.
Last
thing for today,
In the
spirit of StarWars.com
and TheForce.net,
I have created a "Select" picture for "Sith:
Apocalypse", here's hoping it gets posted by
TFN! In case it doesn't, I'm putting it up here.
That's all for now. MTFBWY!

All
right! Other projects aside...I should have a
rough cut done relatively soon. I'm leaving to go
a cruise but the rough cut should be done about 1 week
after I get back. So look for an update the week
of 19 June! On the plus side I am getting
dangerous with 3D Studio Max and starting to really get
my hands around it. Thoughts are already spinning
in my head for a follow-up film. But first things
first!
Anyway,
the next big update to the site will be character
backgrounds and profiles of the main characters so
people can have some idea of the backstory. I am
also working on a comprehensive tutorial on how to do
some quick staged combat and how to build good stunt
lightsabers. Here's a couple of pics to hold you
over.
First pic
is of some saber props I'm working on for the tutorial
and for the cast....3 different models shown (basically
just the grips are different). The saber is
inspired (though not a copy of)....Anakin's lightsaber
given to Luke in Star Wars: A New Hope. It is loosely
based on the Graflex Synchronar 3-cell flashgun. But
since it isn't made from an actual graflex there are
many differences....that's why I say it is inspired. The
activation button is cast from an actual Graflex button.
The main body of the saber is chromed brass with a
mounted copper tube inside. (Full construction
tutorial coming soon)

Second
picture is a frame capture from the re-rendered opening
sequence of the film. This is a shot of the Sith
Ship as it flys in front of Kirosh's bright sun, on the
way to the planet.

That's
all for now! MTFBWY!
