NEWS ARCHIVE JUL 2001

(31 Jul 01)

This will be the last update for about a week.  I am heading off tomorrow to take the 2nd rough cut to a screening party in Chicagoland with members of the cast and crew...then its on to four fun-filled days at GENCON....maybe I'll see some of you there!

(29 JUL 01)

Well, most of the story backgrounds are now up ( I still have a couple more to go).  I updated the props pages also (now includes my Nine Doors prop).  I also made a new Fan Films Select image to reflect the new web address.  Work on the film continues, as well as all the other preparations I have to make before GENCON.  New select pic here.

All right!  DNS updated....hopefully we're back in business!

Lots of news.  Work continues on the film.  A second rough cut will be shown when I go to the Chicago and Milwaukee areas for GENCON  on August 2.  This rough cut is essentially a finished version of the film except for some of the visual effects surrounding the lightsaber duels towards the end.  But everything else should be done.  Voiceovers are complete.  And I'm laying sound effects and soundtrack tomorrow.

Sith Apocalypse has been entered in the second international Star Wars Fan Film Festival as part of the Force 3.75 convention in Australia.  Find out more about it here (Festival Link).

The Odigo IM indicator is now active on the page.  Odigo, for those who don't know is an IM program that lets you use AIM, Yahoo Messenger, and ICQ all at the same time.  If you've got it...you can drop me an IM when the indicator is on!  You can download Odigo here.

I am migrating the site to my new web server. Please bear with me as I make these changes. In the meantime the old site at: http://apocprod.bizland.com. should still be working, for a while anyway.

(18 July 01)

Day 8:  I continue to rotoscope there is no end in sight.  I have made more updates to the site.  The Production Photos page is now up and running.  Still working on the story backgrounds.  The blizzard grows worse.  Had to eat another sled dog.  I don't think Johannsen will make it back, he seems to have gone mad.  He keeps shouting, "Tekelili, Tekelili" over and over again.  I fear we may never see the ship again.

(16 July 01)

The pressure is mounting!  Updated the "Behind the Scenes" Page and the "Location" Page.  Should have the character profiles up later this week.  Work continues on post production, though a lot slower than I would've hoped.  I now have 12 days to meet the deadline.  Spent the weekend working on some Tome props and rotoscoping.  Pics up when they are done.

Also, on another front.  Fans need YOUR help!  The folks behind "Prelude to Hope" would like to bring us a Star Wars audio drama in the style of the original trilogy radio dramas.  They are having auditions now.  So head over to "Star Wars: Second Strike" and try out!

The Rough Cut of "Sith: Apocalyspe" has met with the general approval of cast and crew, with only minor changes.  Rotoscoping and post production work continues.  The film now has a "must-be-complete" date of 28 July since there is a possibility of a screening at GENCON.  Work on the site progresses at a turtle's pace, the "Prop" section is updated now and working.

(Updated 08 July 01)

Work continues on the site.  I've got the site skeleton up and I am working on formatting the character back stories and fleshing out some of the pages.   The Rough Cut of "Sith: Apocalypse" is now being distributed to cast and crew thanks to the enormous efforts of Tyson "The Admiral".  Special thanks goes out to him once again.  I've spent the day working on some very special props and hopefully I'll have some of the tutorials up soon.

(Updated 04 July 01)

Work continues on the site.  Slow conversion but I want it to be good.  Also, the important thing is that I've been at it for almost 20 hours straight.  But the full length Rough Cut of "Sith:Apocalypse" is now complete!

The film weighs in at 21min 43secs not counting the closing credits.  The DV file exceeds the 4 gig file limit so I'm out of luck and had to export it directly to the camera.  Cast and crew: I am working on a Quicktime version so that you can preview the film while I work on the FX.  I will try and render a Sorenson 3 codec version later tonight.  If I have time I will try a DIVX;) codec  version too and try and post the smaller version.

 (Updated 02 July 01)

As you can see the site is undergoing a massive upgrade.  Fun Fun Fun!  Please bear with me as I make these changes.

In a few days,  I hope to have a "Backgrounds" page up with character profiles on all the characters in the film.  Also, there will be sections about props and prop-making (Fan Film, "Real" Film, and LARP related) and some tutorials on "saber construction" and "saber combat".  That's all for now.  Fortuna Secunda!!
