THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE TWO TOWERS

(NO SPOILERS: JUST MY THOUGHTS)

I wrote down my thoughts as soon as I got home after FOTR last year kind of for posterity and I figured it would be a good idea to do it now too.  It is now 3:43AM and I just got home.  (I don't live an hour away from a decent theater anymore so that's a step in the right direction.)

When I first saw FOTR the feeling I had leaving the theater was one of loss....like staring at something so beautiful it just breaks your heart.  Tonight....it is a feeling of annoyance.  Annoyance you ask?  Well, yes I felt that Mr. Jackson took a few too many liberties on this one...but as I see it, if it wasn't for him....we'd be watching the 2 hour studio release of all three books jammed in one movie....so I'll let him off just this once ;)

No, my feeling of annoyance is that I have to wait a whole freakin year to catch the next installment!  There were some things I saw tonight that I absolutely adored and some things that I didn't like so much.  But then I'll reserve judgement until I see it again in about 10 hours to really decide.  My gut feeling right now, is that I liked FOTR better, but then again....I'm one of those weirdos that likes FOTR the best out of the entire trilogy of novels.   I'm just reflecting right now that during the last year I've seen Spiderman swinging through skyscrapers of New York, Yoda in an all out lightsaber duel.....pretty cool....nothing could top that right?

Well that's what I thought too...but tonight a saw Ents, and Gollum, and Helm's Deep!  Too much at once I'm afraid....WETA has overloaded my poor widdle head.  Oh and let me just thank Miranda Otto for her awesome portrayal of Eowyn (just so we're clear, I've been in love with Eowyn since I first read LOTR in sixth grade) and tonight...I got to see her do a little sword kata.....she's such a tease.

Now I can't wait till the damned special edition DVD (I wonder what they'll throw in this time instead of the Argonath...I want whatever it is already).  Can't wait until the Return of the King.

GONDOR!!! GONDOR!!!

14 DEC 2002

Been ridiculously busy lately so if I've blown off anyone's emails I apologize.  Somewhere I am gonna get caught up.  I've finished up a bunch of the shots for the first trailer of Legacy of the Sith, which should be up hopefully by the end of the month.  I've still got a couple more shots to do, mostly some roto work.  Also...still moving into the new house.  And I'm trying to finish up a lot of the work in progress props I am constructing...

On another note, I went and saw Star Trek: Nemesis...there were a lot of things I did not like.  But all in all, it was a pretty decent movie, and better than I had come to expect from Rick Berman...maybe he's leaning on putting the franchise back on track (doubtful, but I can be optimistic).

Only a few more days until "Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers" .  I can't wait for Eowyn!  Forth Eorlingas!!
