Indiana Jones opened his eyes startled...
what a strange dream he was having...
Being chased through massive catacombs by impish beings certainly not of
his world... Now that he was awake
the dream seemed surreal, but up until a few minutes ago he thought he was
living the manifestation in his mind. This
was becoming an all to familiar occurrence.
This time he found refuge in an angular crypt made of an unknown masonry
material, and he seemed to be drawn to it by an almost glitter in the passages
before him. The phenomena gave his
senses a queer feeling he couldn’t place whenever it appeared at its irregular
intervals.
Inside the chamber Indy found evidence to
support his theories on the impending foray into their universe.
Through eons of hard settled dust, an undisturbed gold mine to an
archeologist, he uncovered strange hieroglyphs remarkably familiar to some of
the passages found in the cipher manuscript; the
mysterious text whose eerie pages daunted him with diagrams and rough sketches
of creatures unlike he had ever studied.
Indy knelt on the stone ground, holding
the torch so as to not cast his shadow on the elaborate murals beneath him.
He was unable to fathom how the native inhabitants of this ancient city
of macabre were able to fashion such elaborate pictographs and other forms of
art without the aid of any form of artificial light.
Perhaps as he deciphered some of the new symbols and drawings he would
learn more about their time.
There must certainly be a message...as
someone or something seemed to lead him to this room.
For until such guidance, what seemed an eternity he was fleeing for his
life among the accursed crypt though an endless maze of tunnels harboring beings
unnamed and unnamable. Lightly,
Indy blew away more of the dust, and traced one of the frightful passages with
his finger and began whispering quietly aloud...
That
is not dead which can eternal lie.
And
with strange eons even death may die.
Buut
Buut
Buut
The knocks at the door came again.
Indy shook his head trying to rid himself
of his sheepish state. He got up to
see who it was dropping by so late in the night.
He opened the door.
“Indy...” It was Professor Malcolm
from Miskatonic, and with the pause in his voice, Indy knew at once there was
trouble.
“Come in Dr..
Please.”
“Indy...
There’s been a break in at the University. Someone has stolen the obelisk we found in the Roswell crash
debris!”
This was not good news at all thought
Indy... they were all now in grave
danger...and after this latest bout with his dreams.... The situation was
becoming perilous.
Indy groveled in a low monotone voice and
mumbled barley audible through clenched teeth...something about the artifact
being the key to understanding his dreams underlying meaning.
Then he looked to Dr. Malkum.
“I think it’s time we had help from an
outside Force.........”
He closed his eyes and once again tried to
Contact his Jedi friend-- Luke Skywalker.
