A
handful of Kurita defenders pursued the retreating Commonwealth forces into the
forest. The Majority of them being
light Battlemechs which could easily overtake all of the damaged Davion ones.
Wallart’s
lance had formed up around his Atlas. Armor
plating was smeared across its entire torso from the heat of battle.
Although slowly, at least he could still move.
Any time a Kurita mech got too close he'd wheel and deal an Auto Cannon
20 blast. His comrades, however,
were not faring so well.
Farrow's
Archer had completely exhausted its Long Range Missile Packs even before any
Dragon mechs broke through the Davion defenders front lines.
As much as she wished to have some long-range firepower now, it proved to
being a blessing in disguise. She
was one of the last mechs to begin retreating from the Armor Factory, which was
overwhelmed with Kurita forces like a slab of roadkill swarming with flies.
Her armor was so crater marked from Kurita bombardments that any ammo she
might have had most assuredly would have blown. Even her rear firing medium lasers had been kno
cked
out. All she could do now was run.
Jason's
Locust had no rear armor left. Its
entire exo-skeleton was completely exposed.
One more direct shot to that area, and his mech would come apart at its
seams -literally! He checked his
scope. "Damn it!" the
readout showed another Wasp hot on his tail, its 'stinger' ready for the kill.
The Kurita let off a single aimed medium laser pulse.
The shot was off an angle, but still did its intended damage.
The beam burned through the Locust's leg armor and myomer. Jason fought to keep his mech upright, but to know avail.
The feeble limb splintered and broke.
The concussion of the fall knocked Jason unconscious.
Victor
high in the air with his Phoenix Hawk saw is friend go down.
"You Kurita Bastard!" Victor howled through his company’s
comm-link. He cut the power to his
jump jets and let the gale of momentum sail him toward the damned Wasp.
He crashed down upon the enemy mech with his lasers pumping with no
regard for their stifling heat build up. The
phoenix Hawk's legs buckled under the force of impact.
The Kurita pilot died in a matter of seconds as lasers sliced through the
Wasp's cockpit and the walking armored machine was now such a mass of molten
armor it was almost unrecognizable as a mech.
It flowed from beneath Victor's Phoenix Hawk like lava runoff from a
volcano. Victor checked his
scanner, more Kurita Battlemechs were converging in their area.
He looked over a few more monitors.
His legs were still operational. He
forced his mech upright, and headed toward the downed Locust.
Jason was not answering his comm-link, but his computer indicated he was
still alive.
