IT'S WORSE

BY: Deathstrike

Jason, Farrow, and Victor sat outside the command briefing room along with a dozen other warriors, waiting restlessly to hear what news the AFFS had on the status of the Kurita invasion. "I hope we get some good news..." Jason grumbled. Suddenly, the doors to the briefing room opened with a hiss and the officers started filing out. Wallart appeared, and made his way to them through the crowd. The expression on his face told it all. "We're in trouble. The Dracs landed several more dropships in the last 24 hours. We estimate they've gained about another hundred mechs out of it." Jason's eyes bulged.

"Another HUNDRED???!" We've only got 51 mechs left, and half of them are damaged!" Wallart sighed and continued. "I know, I know. And that's not all of it either. The Dragon's reinforcing their units in this sector with mechs and men from several other successful campaigns. New Theradrine, Berros, Union River, and Lythia City have all fallen.  It'll take those mechs a while to get here; at least a week, but added to the newly arrived mechs they're gonna have quite a force. And best quess says they'll be coming here." Heads sagged. "Only a handful of AFFS defenders repulsed the firstwave. Looks like this is Kurita's big push. They've hit four other planets in this quadrant alone. Hanse Davion is on his way, but he can't radio to us or he'll give himself away. We've got to hold on untill he gets here. We've got to!" The update ended and they group moved off. "If Hanse doesn't get here before they attack, it's over. We were lucky once...this time we'll be slaughtered if we don't get reinforcements." He went up to the roof to get some night air and calm himself down, but even the night held no serenity. The light on the far eastern horizon was the city of Sithica aflame. The Dracs had been besieging them for almost a week. Even at this distance he thought he could feel the ground rumble just a bit, no doubt signaling yet another Kurita attack there. "This is fuckin insane...", he thought, and slowly went back downstairs.
