The
tide of battle had turned. Wallart
had arrived; the Atlas was with him. Its
face of death turned the stomachs of every pilot who saw it into a ball of
stone. "Edwards, this is
Wallart, sorry to have kept you in the dark on our present arrival.
We didn't want to break radio silence, and lose our surprise back shots
on these Assault lances." "Copy Gold Leader...nice of you to show up,
we're in some real pretty shit, give us all the help you can, watch your six,
out!" Edwards said it all in a matter of seconds.
He had reason to.
An
80-ton Awesome from one of the Assault lances was upon him.
With cheetah like speed Edwards torso twisted his mech right.
PPC fire blanketed his left side shattering and melting fiber-reinforced
steel armor. His mech shook
violently under the incredible thermal and kinetically charged energy bolt, but
was again calm. Smoke poured from a
gaping rip in his left torso where his arm had been and yellow-green coolant
fluid flowed from the stump like discolored blood.
He twisted yet again and returned fire.
His PPC shot nailed the Awesome squarely in its heavily armored center
torso, a pitiful hit. Several more
beam weapons went wide striking fallen logs, incinerating the dead wood
instantly, and sending sparks flying into nearby trees also setting them ablaze.

Damn
it he had to do better than this if he was going to survive.
He had cheated death so many times during battle...he knew his luck
wouldn't hold out, and was sure of it when he saw two Stalkers closing in on
him. Wallart was there though.
Toland, Storm, and the others in the lance danced around the colossal
Kurita mechs. The mass of confusion
allowed for a perfect back shot on a Stalker.
The Autocannon 20 round from the Atlas punctured the feeble rear armor.
The projectile found its way to the ammo housing and detonated, spraying
fragments of metal into nearby pilot's cockpits with a noise unique to the
common beat of the hailing rain which fell in thick sheets around them.
Rivaling the thunder and lightning, men fought, killed and continued to
die across the battlefield with the sound of their weapons echoing in the night.
Seeing the backshot on his partner, the other Stalker reared and plastered the Atlas with an array of SRM-6 packs, Medium, and large lasers. Wallart's Atlas easily absorbed the damage, but the Awesome was turning on it with 3 Particle Projection Cannons ready. Unexpectedly its legs blew apart, sending chunks and pieces of their remains scattering across the field. The crews of the base gun emplacements had an unconstrained ability to pulverize behemoth sized mechs like these. The Awesome's pilot was in a state of frenzied panic and discharged his Scarlet weapons harmlessly into the sky. As the leg actuators of the Atlas let go, the Awesome's head now horizontal to the ground, compressed, and became a permanent coffin for the pilot trapped inside. The giant battlewagons continued their struggle for supreme domination like the mighty tyrant beasts that once reined over age old Earth...
