Star continued on. "Their main
target will be the armor facility. It's
our most heavily defended area on the planet.
Most likely they will try to overrun us with their superior numbers;
we're dug in deep, but it might not be enough." Just then chief tech Montgomery, from the nearby Mech repair
facility the outpost was guarding came in.
"Commander Wallart, that Atlas you brought in earlier, we will be
able to repair it. We've got our
best men working on it, be great if we could get that monster on our side of the
battlefield for once. Only the head
section is severely damaged, and we're salvaging parts from that hollowed out
Hunchback." "Thanks for
the good news Mr. Montgomery," said Wallart as he watched Montgomery scurry
out to work on another mech. Zac
spoke up again, "If that Atlas is ready any time soon Matt, I'd like you to
take your Lance over to the Armor facility.
There's gonna be some intense fighting over there, and I want a man I can
trust in Command." "Very
good Sir!" Wallart replied in a proud deep voice.
"Now get some sleep, it's going to be a long war....
Oh, and tell that hot shot Storm of yours that we've got another Locust
for him." "Thank you sir,
I'll let him know." With that,
Wallart was out the room and down the Corridor toward his lance's barracks.
His journey uneventful, he soon found his bed, and was fast asleep.

He
awoke the next morning to what sounded like an explosion.
The thunderous boom rattled everything in the barracks for several
seconds. Wallart jumped up, but was
quickly calmed by one of his fellow warriors.
Victor came over, "it's alright Matt, been going on all
morning...Hurry up and get ready, we're all going down to the mess hall."
Wallart was ready in what seemed like an eternity as his hungry friends
waited for him. Breakfast was
simple rations as always, with a little locally grown cornbread thrown in.
High-class tales of battle and honor were exchanged throughout the Hall.
"Damn this corn bread sucks,” said Storm as he passed the tray
down to the woman beside him. "What
kinda damage yer Archer take Farrow?"
"Ah, wasn't to bad, some external armor damage, I was behind a lot
of cover though, sitting back...wailing on that Hunchback few hundred meters
away with the LRMs. Had to make
sure he didn't get another shot off with his AC20 at Matt."
Wallart heard his name mentioned and put some effort into listening...
He heard something he really liked, "Hey'dya hear em testing the
Atlas's Autocannon earlier this morning..."
