The
man hid in an alley. A soft rain
fell and masked the veil of cold sweat that covered him. The Cthuloids are coming they will get me!
No, he reminded himself, that has in his time, he was in the past now.
He had to find Mulder. Yes,
Mulder could stop the cultists. He
looked across the street and saw her. Dana
Scully, her red hair catching what light there was.
The wise men, said she was Mulder’s partner, so she’d know where to
find him. He stalked her into the
small shop that she was going into. He
saw her tense. She sees me! But no,
something else, she saw someone else.
He
looked and saw what she saw. A man,
apparently raving mad, moving towards her.
Scully pulled her pistol and aimed it at the man, who was now brandishing
a dagger. “Stop right there.
Put the knife down and your hands over your head!”
The
man ignored her. In fact he did the
exact opposite of what she told him to do.
He charged screaming, “Father is free!! You must die and in sleep
eternal lie!!”
Scully
fired.
Once.
Twice.
The
man fell…writhing…then stood back up. He grinned as blood and pus drooled from his
mouth…”He…Father protects us…the faithful heheheheh.” He advanced
again. The observer from the future
could watch no more. He charged.
Scully
emptied her pistol into the raving man. But, still he came…he leapt at
her...but was hit in mid-air by the observer from the future…. The observer
quickly slammed a strange stone with the Elder Sign on it into the man's
forehead and he promptly turned into a gibbering mass of hooves and tentacles…
“It
is the hellspawn of Sub-Niggurath…they have followed me.
You must take me to Mulder.”
Scully
was completely confused, “How could that man get up after I shot him.”
“Not
a man, human flesh and tissue slung over preternatural forms not entirely made
of matter…very tough.” The stranger from the future realized he needed this
woman to trust him, “I’m Reese. Come
with me if you want to live!”
