Back
in time: 1947...
Indiana
was getting pretty apathetic with all the secretiveness of this new find.
No one was talking. It was
time for some action, and time to get in touch with someone who could help with
some answers.
He
closed his eyes and concentrated. As
Luke taught him in his Jedi training school...
Dr.
Jones attempted to focus ...suddenly his mind was filled with a lifeless feeling
of dismay ...the dark side no doubt trying to intervene.
The
feeling was somehow strange though.... Usually
he could block it out... This was
much stronger than all his previous training sessions combined.
Like a crawling chaos it ripped into his essence, and Indy collapsed to
the floor.
Forward
in space: Enterprise-D
Luke
picked himself up off the bridge floor. “It’s
too big...” An overwhelming sense of dread, Forced him to stop.
“Something is afoul here....”
“LaForge
to Bridge. Captain, I’ve had to
channel all warp engine power to the shields.
She’s running at maximum, but I’m still reading an 8% power drain.
I can’t find where it’s coming from!”
“Noted
Mr. LaForge, but right now we have a bigger problem....” Picard wiped them
sweat from his bald forehead, then straightened his uniform tunic again.
The
cyclopean wingspan of the unremitting Vindicator
bore down on the Enterprise-D like a
maddened bull. The incessant shower
of the turbolasers was quickly depleting the Federation ship's shields.
“We
need to find an answer, and fast number 1.” Picard turned to his most senior
officer, but his gaze was caught by the sight of a small domed droid rolling
down the port side ramp of the bridge.
It
whirled, and chirped a few times, and Data thought he found a new friend.
“Good
idea R2.” Luke put a hand on the cylindrical droid's domed top.
“Captain Picard, you need to hear this.”
“Alright
R2, playback the message...........”
