GANDALF AND THE GREAT OLD ONES

BY: DEATHSTRIKE

Gandalf grinned at Kirk.  "Who were you expecting, Sauron?"

To the unseasoned crew on the bridge, it sounded like Gandalf had just insulted their leader!  Kirk and Bones just chuckled, but their mirth soon faded under the dire situation they were enveloped in.

"Gandalf, your powers are great.  Can you tell us what's going on?  What are we up against?" asked Kirk.  He knew something very significant in the history of the multiverse was on the way.  Gandalf only revealed himself when something really bad was going down.

"Kirk, I'm afraid that you won't like my answer.  The Greys were the greatest threat yet to the Megaverse.  But even they do not compare to the forces that have encroached on our reality.  For we deal with entities and intelligence's that exist outside our multidimensional cosmos.  To them, our entire Megaverse is a drop of water amongst infinite others.  They are as much beyond us as we are to a virus.  They are the Great Old Ones.  If you think the rapidly growing chaotic blackness, which Sulu mentioned, is unbeatable, then we have already lost.  For It is Nyarlathotep, the Crawling Chaos.  It is the messenger of the Great Old Ones, the harbinger.  It is but the first and the least horrible of the dangers we face."

Kirk was not pleased.  He mentally assessed the situation and summed it up as follows:

"Aww, Fuck."

"I see that you understand perfectly," said Gandalf.

The Emperor's force extension recoiled instantly back to his body, aboard the Vindicator.  Palpatine had mentally touched something beyond comprehension.  Something he had never felt before: Pure Blackness.  It was as if he'd brushed against the physical embodiment of the Dark Side.  And perhaps he had.

Indy was carefully removing the shining trapezohedron from its resting place in the center of alien ship.  He was careful not to stare into it, lest his mind be drawn into dark spheres best left undreamt.  There was much research to do.

Beneath the Pacific, a Dreaming Sleeper's stirrings grew.
