Day
13 Shire Reckoning:
Highday, Foreyule 17 -- Queenstown
Up for an early trip
into Queenstown and got a lot of knick-knack shopping
done and some browsing around the town. My landmark is
established...Internet Depot. Hehehe I'm incorrigible.

Malia, doing her
Galadriel impression.
Then we head to Karawa
(?) river for some gentle river rafting (HA!). A lot of
folks have booked a bunch of heavy duty rafting, but I
don't feel like doing the whole wet suit thing, neither
does Laura. We both just want to paddle along the Anduin,
and go by the Pillars of the Argonath. I can go
serious rafting on the Arkansas river anytime I want, so
I con Penny into doing this other 'gentler' rafting.
I kind of notice that
stuff has not gone to plan when they hand out wetsuits
and everything to everyone....oh well...we wound up
getting wrecked! LOL! It was loads fun.
Laura had a blast too even though she was really nervous
starting out. We all went swimming in glacially fed
river water, for the experience of it....and it was as
cold as it sounds. And we went right by where the
Pillars of Argonath would be, very very cool. We even
hit a class 4 rapid at the end!

Penny got knocked out
of the boat right at the end and wound up going under.
She came up with a big smile on her face. That's my
girl!
Hooked up with some
Aussie friends from the tour, LilAnne (from Norway), and
Laura and we all went out to dinner at Speights
Alehouse. Great food! And great beer.

Then on the way home I
finally found the New Zealand All Blacks wool vest
exactly what I was looking for. Spent more money....urgh.
Back to the
hotel...Finished Earthsea book 1 and now onto some SciFi...Card's
Shadow Puppets....("Ho Bean.")
Can't stay
up....tomorrow is the last day.
