Day
12 Shire Reckoning:
Mersday, Foreyule 16
-- Rohan Refugee Lake, Warg Attack, Amon Hen.
Very tiring day
today...even though it seems like we didn't do much.
Up early to head out
to Kelvin Heights Deer Park for a quick tour of the
Rohan refugees' path around the lake, where Gimli fell
off of his horse, the start of the Warg attack and when
Legolas was shooting at the Wargs and where he mounted
the horse with some CG help.

(I should have panned right
slightly for an exact match)
(ditto on this shot... )

Everything was quite
recognizable except for where Gimli fell off his horse.
I didn't recognize it at all. I knew that Gimli fell off
left of the lake but that's about it. I thought maybe
the filmmaker's might have reversed the image....but the
TORN camera crew disagreed saying that the movement
would be wrong. They were able to locate the shot on the
other side of the lake. Unfortunately, I couldn't
remember the shot and took the picture from the wrong
angle. :(
Next went to Arrowton
to see part of the Ford of Bruinen. Saw what I could but
didn't want to ford the stream. Also,
there was a huge world championship triatholon going on
at the same time and we got to see a bit of the cycling
portion.
Afterwards we went to
the 12 Mile Delta where Frodo, Sam, and Gollum witness
the Rangers attack on the Haradrim. In the film it looks
like they are in some kind of an arid region, in reality
it is right next to a Lake! Go figure. Very recognizable
and shot some nice pix of it.

Last stop was a brisk
hike up to where the Uruks attack Aragorn on Amon Hen. A
bunch of us re-enacted the Uruks for the cameras, it was
pretty fun. But we're bushed.

Tomorrow head early
into Queenstown and go rafting on the Anduin.
Battery on the PPC is
running down...
Mike out.
